About the artist

Larie is a multidisciplinary creator and musical director who moves fluidly across diverse creative universes. Their work is an organic fusion of poetry, electronics and sonic experimentation, expressed in Portuguese, Spanish and English. Through a sensitive approach, they stand out as a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, DJ, music producer and researcher of the intersections between the sonic sphere and social issues.

Bio

Born in Franca, in the countryside of São Paulo state, Larie developed a deep relationship with music from an early age, learning several instruments through social projects and later developing their own language in a self-taught way. This versatility led them to work across multiple musical contexts, from samba, funk and traditional Brazilian rhythms to flamenco and experimental electronic music. Their experience as a supporting musician shaped a broad vision of musical creation and direction, allowing them to orchestrate sonic landscapes that engage with different aesthetics and cultures, most recently performing as a multi-instrumentalist and collaborator with the Portuguese trio Fado Bicha and with Hélio Morais of Linda Martini.

Within live performance, Larie has collaborated with artists from various nationalities, including Francisco, El Hombre (Brazil), Meta (Portugal), A Banda Mais Bonita da Cidade (Brazil) and Fármacos (Chile).

Launching their solo career, Larie released the album Voa (2016 – VOA Music), which has accumulated over 4 million streams on Spotify and opened doors to international recognition. Their following work, Lux (2019), received critical acclaim and was compared to artists such as Bon Iver and Camille, with the Spanish press describing it as “somewhere between Björk and Caetano Veloso”.

With a trajectory marked by performances at renowned venues such as Ronnie Scott’s in London, SummerStage in New York and Teatro Solís in Montevideo, Larie has performed in 22 countries, bringing to the stage a presence that blends intimacy and intensity while constantly pushing beyond their own comfort zone.

Based in Portugal since 2020, Larie has deepened their research into sonic creation, having studied music production at Arda Academy and beginning their path as a producer for artists such as Sr. Motta (Uruguay) and Nouã (Brazil).

Their work as a multidisciplinary creator has taken shape in original projects such as the sound installation Ô REVOÁ (Lisbon, 2024) and the multimedia performance and installation Change∞ (Tunis, 2024), developed in partnership with France, Tunisia and Portugal. They have also signed the musical direction for dance and theatre productions such as BAqUE (2022, Lisbon/Portugal), by Gaya de Medeiros, Nós ou Ninguém Podia Ouvir os Olhos Dela (2016, Franca/Brazil), by Daniela Rosa, and AGARRRA (2026, Finland/Norway), by Bianca Hisse and Laura Cemin.

In 2026, Larie premiered their first solo performance, MANDAKÍ, in which they act as creator, director and performer, while also composing the music for the piece. The work was co-produced by Teatro do Bairro Alto and Point Communs Theatre, premiering in Lisbon and Cergy, France, between February and March of the same year.

Alongside their artistic practice, Larie also serves as a member of the advisory board of MIL, Portugal’s leading music industry conference. Their work reflects an ongoing commitment to innovation and to expanding the possibilities of contemporary music and the arts.
